Going barefoot is one of the distinct joys of wearing shoes. There is no better moment than when that stuffy or uncomfortable footwear finally comes off and your feet get to be free. I love going barefoot whenever possible but need shoes for the rest of the time. Wearing shoes at the office is one thing but I should have more flexibility after hours. This is why minimal or neutral running shoes were created. I could never fully adjust to regular shoes and these styles provide a safe, comfortable ride for my feet.

Favorite Free Runs in San Francisco

One of the things I dearly love to do in my adidas adipure running shoes is visit free things to do in San Francisco. Even after many hours on my feet, I still feel so refreshed.

I love running on the Golden Gate Bridge. The best time to go running in my adidas adipure shoes on the Golden Gate Bridge is early in the morning. I park at the free North Vista Point Parking area and begin my run from there. Starting early allows me to beat the crowds. The parking area opens at 7 AM. When I run both sides of the bridge, I have completed a 3.4 mile run, just the right length for an early morning jog.
Along the way, I marvel that the bridge was originally constructed in the 1930s at the cost of 35 million dollars. I enjoy watching the workman working to keep the bridge safe for all the people who cross it each day. I think about the story of the 11 men who died constructing the bridge. Running on the bridge in high winds is interesting because the bridge has a 27 foot sway.
Another place that I love to visit in my neutral running shoes is the Golden Gate Park. Something interesting is always happening at the park. I often stop at one of the buildings on their free days just to see what has changed.
One of my favorite stops in the park is the Conservatory of Flowers and the accompanying Japanese Tea Garden. I love seeing the beautiful orchids that are grown there. Occasionally, I even attend one of the master gardening classes held at the conservatory. When I attend classes at the Conservatory of Flowers, people always make comments about my neutral running shoes. I love telling people how comfortable they are.
Another of my favorite places at Golden Gate Park is Stowe Lake. I love running around the lake in my minimal running shoes. They handle the uneven ground so well. They are so lightweight that I feel like I am barefoot. Yet, I have great protection on my feet.
Another of my favorite places to run in my minimal running shoes is the San Francisco Zoo. Periodically, the zoo opens its doors to visitors for free. I love watching the 260 different types of animals on my run through the zoo. I find that I have to stop and take photos often when I do this run. I cannot wait to visit the zoo and see the new spider exhibit. Who knew the world had over 20 different species of tarantulas?

To say the least, all of that makes it easier to concentrate on getting that ball to the other side…

In my game, it’s as much about feeling good as it is looking good. As with previous styles of the Barricade, I never worry about skidding or sliding. I plant my foot, it stays. I swing my arm, and my balance is solid. But this latest and greatest tennis shoe has a better design for an enhanced fit and lighter weight construction. It offers even further resilience in forefoot propulsion than previous versions and that definitely optimizes support.

At the end of the day, this is the shoe for the serious, high performance tennis player. If you’re hitting the court at least twice a week, this is the gear you want on your feet. Just like any other pair of shoes, you may need to break them in (I’d walk around in them a few days), but I can say confidently you will never regret the investment. Having broken in a pair myself, I feel comfortable and I’m moving around the court with a greater sense of grace and speed for these shoes. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
